Sarcastic fringehead (Neoclinus blanchardi)
When two fringeheads have a territorial battle, they wrestle by pressing their distended mouths against each other, as if they were kissing. This allows them to determine which is the larger fish, which establishes dominance.

ok first of all ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME and second of all whats sarcastic about it

dude they also emit the most horrifying sound known to earth, alternia and the outer ring while dueling. one of my favorite animals as of this fall

holy fuck
nature do you have an excuse for this

Ahahaha this is so awesome!
Although, the sounds in the linked video are sound effects, I’m pretty sure, not the noise the fishes make themselves. In this other video from the BBC where the audio gain was turned up high enough to pick out the fishes’ swimming movements, there’s no such sound. And if you were a meter or two away in the water it would seem a lot quieter than even that clip.

SO, HERE’S A COOL THING ABOUT MORAY EELS: THEY HAVE TWO JAWS
They don’t actually swallow food. Instead they propel their second jaw forward to grasp their prey and drag it down into their throats.

I THINK IT’S TIME TO MAKE THIS GO VIRAL AGAIN.

It’s Official – Cell Phones are Killing Bees
Scientists may have found the cause of the world’s sudden dwindling population of bees – and cell phones are to blame. Research conducted in Lausanne, Switzerland has shown that the signal from cell phones not only confuses bees, but also leads to their death. Over 83 experiments have yielded the same results. With virtually most of the population of the United States (and the rest of the world) owning cell phones, the impact has been greatly noticeable.
